SPOKANE, Wash. — Providence Sacred Heart is celebrating a massive milestone.
The hospital announced it broke its record for most kidney transplants in a year with 76 in 2025. That’s up from 59 last year and 35 from 2023.
The previous record was 75 transplants in 2002.
Providence says improved care access is key in reaching this goal. The team has increased staffing which now includes four transplant surgeons and two transplant nephrologists.
The hospital also says enhanced donor strategies and increased work with organ procurement organizations helped them get more viable organs for people.
“Achieving this record is a direct result of the extraordinary skill and commitment of our transplant team,” said Dr. Dan Getz, Providence INWA chief medical officer. “This team not only delivers exceptional clinical care but does so with deep compassion and purpose. They reflect the best of Providence.”
