SPOKANE, Wash. — The busiest shopping day of the year is almost here and there are plenty of ways to take advantage great deals while supporting local businesses.
Black Friday kicks off at midnight on November 29 and shops throughout the Inland Northwest are offering big discounts.
According to the National Retail Federation, the number one gift people expect to give this holiday season is clothes or accessories.
If you’re looking for fashion items, check out The Great PNW in Spokane’s Kendall Yards.
The shop was founded by a Spokane native over 10 years ago and carries clothing made to express love for the PNW’s natural beauty. Some popular items include fleece and flannels, outerwear, beanies and bags.
“Supporting local is what creates a thriving community. It’s what we need in Spokane,” said the store’s owner, Joel Barbour.
The store’s Black Friday sale will feature deals up to 70% off.
They are gearing up for Black Friday weekend by staffing more employees to make sure everyone in our community has the chance to take advantage of the sale this year.
“We’re mostly online, but having this store in Spokane is a huge way that we’re able to give these discounts locally, like we’re doing stuff in the store that we’re not doing online, so we have tons of stuff in the store marked down, some up to 70% off,” said Barbour.
As of Monday, the store is already experiencing an uptick in sales.
“I think people are really optimistic about the economy right now. People are spending more money, and we’re seeing that trend. There’s a lot of momentum going into holidays, which we’re extremely optimistic about. This will be the biggest Black Friday week we’ve had,” said Barbour.
If you’re looking for a locally-owned spot to grab something great for the kids, Figpickles in downtown Coeur d’Alene is a great place to start!
The toy store off of Sherman Avenue carries new and retro toys, games, dress up costumes and puzzles the whole family is sure to enjoy.
“We’re giving things away that are going to be really fun if you buy a certain amount, and we have some incredible things on sale, stuff you won’t find online,” said the store’s owner, Brett.
