SPOKANE, Wash.– Weather delays during the holiday season are higher in many parts of the country, adding to what can be a long journey to see family and friends. According to new statistics, many airports that are destinations out of Spokane see a large number of weather delays during the holidays. The study from UpgradedPoints.com uses data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. That data shows SeaTac, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and San Francisco International were all in the top 10 for weather delays in November, December, and January.
If you’re being picky about where to get a connecting flight, it’s best to head south. Weather delays for airports in Southern California and Arizona are some of the lowest in the country.
Spokane International Airport was not included in the study, but 4 News Now used BTS data to reveal holiday weather delays over the past few years. The percentage of weather delays is similar to some of the worst large airports for holiday delays.
