SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Symphony will honor the legacy of Susan Kennedy, a devoted associate member for more than 30 years, at its free Labor Day Concert on Monday, September 7th at 6 p.m. at Comstock Park.
Kennedy believed deeply that music nourishes the soul, a conviction she carried throughout her service to the Symphony and the Spokane community.
This year’s concert supports fire-displaced residents through a partnership with Innovia Foundation. Donations collected at the park and online will fund complimentary season tickets to the 2026-27 season at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox for families impacted by the recent fires.
“Recovery here is going to take years, and a concert does not shorten that,” said Steve Wenig, CEO of the Spokane Symphony. “What we can offer is a moment of respite and reflection, a date night away from rebuilding work, or a family outing when they need to be somewhere else for a while.”
The concert begins at 5 p.m. with The Logan Pintor Quartet featuring Kekoa Lyons and Fall Arts Preview booths from regional arts organizations. The full orchestra takes the stage at 6 p.m.
The program features popular classics and selections from Hollywood and Broadway. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and picnics.
Donations can be made through a QR code at this website and across the Symphony’s social media channels.
Giving stations will operate at the Spokane Symphony booth and the Comstock Neighborhood Council booth. During intermission, volunteers will pass buckets for cash donations.
Fire-impacted families must register with the Spokane Region Long Term Recovery Group here to be eligible to receive complimentary tickets.
