WASHINGTON STATE — The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is banning all outdoor burning, campfires and charcoal briquettes on Eastern Washington forest lands beginning Friday, July 17. Pressurized liquid gas and propane stoves with functioning shut-off valves remain permitted.
Multiple wildfires are already burning across Washington. Low winter snowpack and statewide drought are creating dangerous fire conditions.
“It has already been a hot summer with wildfire activity across the state, and with more warm, dry conditions still ahead of us, we need to do everything we can to keep our state and firefighters safe,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove.
Officials urge outdoor recreators to check fire restrictions before heading out, keep tow chains secured and stay on established trails. Report any smoke by calling 911.
