SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The Cougar Fire near Newman Lake is no longer spreading, according to fire officials, with all remaining hot spots contained within a designated area as crews work to cool down the fire Thursday morning.
Multiple agencies including Newman Lake Fire, Hauser Fire, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources are working together on suppression efforts.
Crews continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure all embers are extinguished and the fire does not reignite.
