PORTLAND, Maine – The Spokane Velocity fell 2-1 to the Portland Hearts of Pine today, continuing a losing streak at the eastern foes.
Portland thrashed Spokane, 6-1, in last season’s Maine meeting, but Spokane got revenge in a penalty kick shootout win in the playoff semifinals.
Shavon John-Brown scored the Velocity goal in added time late in the first half, but a 60th-minute leveler by Aboubacar Camara and a go-ahead goal by Jay Tee Kamara in the 80th took the win.
Spokane returns home next to host new rival AC Boise next Saturday, June 6, at 6:00 p.m.
