SPOKANE, Wash – The heat played a role in a number of injuries and illnesses during Spokane’s Bloomsday run Sunday.
Spokane Fire says crews treated 63 people on the course. 13 of them were transported to the hospital.
Last year, fire crews treated 27 people and transported just five.
These numbers don’t include anyone treated or transported by AMR crews, who were also helping runners and walkers on the course.
More than 43,000 people finished the annual Bloomsday run.
It was the 50th year of the event.
