LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Three Washington State players scoring 14+ points couldn’t overcome a strong No. 5-seeded Portland Pilots team, and the No. 9-seeded Cougs fell 72-62 in Las Vegas to end their season in the WCC Tournament third round.
Eleonora Villa scored 16 points in the final game of her junior season. She helped the Cougs have a strong first half and trail by only three, but then ran away with the game after a 23-11 third quarter.
Washington State (9-25, 6-12) drops its 25th game for the first time since the 2007-08 season. Portland (18-13, 11-7) advances to the WCC quarterfinals tomorrow.
