PONDERAY, Idaho — Even though the streak of reported human-triggered avalanches came to an end in North Idaho on Saturday, dangerous avalanche conditions still remain.
According to the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center, fragile weak snow layers remain extremely vulnerable to failure, and human triggered avalanches remain likely.
Avalanches recently have also been triggered from a distance, from low angled terrain below steep slopes, adjacent to, and from flat ridge lines above.
IPAC says another warm, strong storm is expected to bring an additional one to two feet of snow onto the snowpack. This is expected to lead to a rise in avalanche conditions on Monday and Tuesday.
