TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Washington State baseball (1-0) pulled off one of the most remarkable upsets of the start of the college baseball season, beating the Alabama Crimson Tide (0-1), 8-4.
The Cougs, picked to finish 8th in the nine-team Mountain West conference, ended the Tide’s 11-year season opener win streak.
Max Hartman batted a perfect 3-3 at the plate with three runs and a pair of RBIs, while Ryan Skjonsby added another home run.
The Cougs have Game 2 of the three-game series tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. PST.
