PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State Cougars (5-22, 4-10) couldn’t carry a strong start and fell 68-61 to the Portland Pilots (15-10, 9-4).
The Cougs started the game up 14-2 at the end of the first quarter, but they allowed 29 points in the second to be down at halftime. WSU held a +14 advantage in the first and fourth quarters, but -21 in the second and third quarters.
Charlotte Abraham led the Cougs with 18 points and eight rebounds. She helped WSU to a 51% shooting output, much better than Portland’s 37%.
Nineteen turnovers, including eight from Eleonora Villa, doomed the Cougs to their 22nd loss.
WSU next plays at the Gonzaga Bulldogs a week from tonight at 6:00 p.m.
