SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters quickly contained a house fire Saturday evening that started in a carport and spread to the attached home.
According to fire officials, the fire started on the 15400 block of East Broadway Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 18. 911 calls reported flames 20 to 30 feet high.
Due to the number of calls and visible smoke, dispatchers upgraded the response while units were en route.
Fire officials said the first crew found an active fire in a covered carport that had extended into the home and attic.
Investigators believe the fire originated at the rear of the attached carport before spreading to a parked vehicle and extending into the kitchen and attic.
Damage was limited to the garage, vehicle and portions of the home.
The cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported, and occupants were evaluated as a precaution.
