SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with his grandfather’s death, according to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
Jeremiah Kiley, 29, was taken into custody without incident on Jan. 6 for the unlawful killing of his grandfather, 69-year-old Joseph Reyes, the sheriff’s office said in a media release Wednesday.
Reyes was found dead inside his residence in the Samuels area of Bonner County, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities have not released details about how Reyes died or what led to the arrest.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that this was an isolated incident, and the public was never in danger.
The case remains under active investigation, and no additional information is currently available, according to Undersheriff Ror Lakewold, the department’s public information officer.
Kiley is being held on charges of second-degree murder.
