MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals (9-5, 1-0) open Big Sky play with a tight win over the Eastern Washington Eagles (2-12, 0-1).
Biko Johnson scored a go-ahead three-pointer with 15 seconds to go, finishing the day with 20 points and five rebounds.
Kiree Huie led the Eags with 16 points and 11 boards off the bench.
The Vandals honored the late head coach Don Monson with jersey patches. The legendary coach grew up in Coeur d’Alene, and he won two Big Sky titles and Coach of the Year awards across 1978-1983.
Idaho next hosts the Montana Grizzlies, while EWU hosts the Montana State Bobcats: both games coming this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
