SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police arrested 17 people during a shoplifting blitz last week, and will continue an emphasis on cracking down leading up to Christmas.
SPD says detectives with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the SPD Air Support Unit conducted a theft emphasis at multiple stores. That included Safeway, Lowe’s, Hobby Lobby, and others. A total of 17 people were arrested for crimes ranging from theft, fugitive, animal cruelty, warrants, and drugs.
Police arrested one person for theft at two locations just blocks from each other.
Detectives say they’re in constant contact with local businesses following up on thefts. One officer is assigned to forwarding all felony charges as those investigations are completed.
