OTHELLO, Wash. — The City of Othello and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation will each receive funding to make roads safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
According to U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), the funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program. In total, communities in Washington received a total of $88.8 million through this grant program since it was established.
The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation will receive $392,320 for its Assessing Safety and Transportation Access Barriers project. This project includes updating crash data, developing an ADA transition plan and transitioning the current safety plan into a comprehensive safety action plan for the reservation.
The City of Othello will receive $120,000 that the city will use to develop a comprehensive Safety Action Plan for the State Route 17 and State Route 26 corridors, school zones and residential areas.
Sen. Cantwell says this grant program focuses on funding transportation investments to reduce crashes and fatalities.
