SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue team continued to help with the historic flooding in western Washington on Saturday.
According to the fire department, the team spend the day staged in Mount Vernon, Burlington and Sedro-Wooley, ready to respond to water rescues.
Floodwaters in those areas continued to surround the homes of some people who did not evacuate and are now beginning to run low on food, water and medicines.
Crews are currently preparing for a new storm system forecasted to bring significant wind and rain to the area on Sunday.
