COEUR D’ ALENE, Idaho. — Steve Casey, the former principal of Coeur d’Alene High School (CHS) and a long-time educator in the community, passed away on Monday according to the school district.
In a Facebook post, the district wrote Casey devoted his time and talent to countless students, staff, and families in our district over many years. Casey was a middle school teacher and vice principal at Lakes Middle School.
From 1989-1993 he was the assistant principal at CHS and served as principal between 1993–2006.
The district wrote:
Steve helped shape the culture, spirit, and traditions that still define Coeur d’Alene High School today. Our hearts are with his family. Steve will be remembered for his bright spirit, his passion for education, and the dedication he brought to his work every day. His legacy as a lifelong educator is reflected in the culture he helped build and in the countless lives he touched. We are grateful to have known him, learned from him, and laughed with him. RIP Steve Casey.
