LEWISTON, Idaho — Idaho State Police arrested a western Washington man suspected of shooting at multiple people including a Washington State Patrol trooper.
According to ISP, a 911 caller reported a man was waving a gun from the sunroof of his white 2020 GMC Sierra pickup while on Highway 95 at Lewiston Hill Wednesday afternoon. The caller also reported hearing gunshots and said the driver fired at the caller’s vehicle.
ISP located the 58-year-old Sequim man in Lewiston and arrested him.
During the investigation, ISP learned the incident began earlier in Whitman County when the suspect fired a shot from his vehicle and allegedly at a WSP trooper while driving to Idaho.
The man was booked into Nez Perce County Jail for aggravated assault. ISP says more charges are possible as WSP and the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office investigate. No injures were reported.
ISP is asking anyone who may have information to contact District 2 at 208-750-9300. ISP notes the truck had a large decal on it saying, “hammer and nail.”
