SPOKANE, Wash. — Smoke Ready Week in Washington State came with some irony this year. New wildfires pumped out smoke across Eastern Washington on Thursday morning, dropping the local air quality. It’s a reminder that wildfire season is expected to be busy across Washington and the greater Pacific Northwest this summer.

The Washington Department of Health, National Weather Service, Spokane Clean Air Agency, and other agencies around the state are continuing Smoke Ready Week on social media, which began on June 9.
