SPOKANE, Wash. — A 19-year-old woman was arrested for multiple suspected DUI hit and run crashes that sent two people to the hospital including a pedestrian who tried to stop her from leaving the scene.
According to Spokane police, officers received multiple 911 calls for a pedestrian crash at Maxwell Avenue and Washington Street around 7:45 p.m. Sunday night.
SPD says witnesses reported a vehicle driven by Cautia McArthur had been involved in a minor crash and left the scene.
While leaving, a passenger from the other vehicle stepped in front of McArthur’s vehicle to try and stop her from leaving, but witnesses say she hit him and dragged him several blocks.
The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A few minutes later, SPD responded to another crash at Monroe and Alice Avenue.
Officers say surveillance footage showed McArthur speeding and running a stop sign. She then hit another vehicle in the intersection which sent both vehicles into multiple other parked vehicles.
A woman in that other vehicle was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
McArthur was treated for her injuries and booked into the Spokane County Jail. She faces felony charges of vehicular assault and hit and run.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the woman t-boned in the second crash.
