The Idaho Transportation Department wants to remind you how important it is to buckle up when in the car.
From May 18 through June 1, Idaho law enforcement will participate in a statewide high-visibility seatbelt enforcement campaign, reminding drivers that it’s the law to wear a seatbelt.
According to ITD, only 86% of Idahoans wear their seatbelts, meaning over 10% of Idahoans lives are at risk when on the road.
ITD said over half of the people killed in Idaho crashes last year were unbelted.
“We know Idahoans value independence and personal responsibility,” said Josephine Middleton, Highway Safety Manager for the Office of Highway Safety. “Wearing your seatbelt is a small act that shows big respect for yourself, your passengers, and everyone else on the road.”
