BOISE, Idaho — Family members of the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students will be allowed to be in the courtroom for the entirety of the trial beyond witness testimony.
Ada County Judge Steven Hippler determined Bryan Kohberger’s family will be allowed in the courtroom ruling against the prosecution.
The prosecution wanted to limit Kohberger’s family to avoid their witness testimony being skewed by others’ testimonies.
The defense wanted to allow Kohberger’s family per his constitutional rights to a fair and public trial.
In his ruling, Judge Hippler determined the family’s potential testimonies would be narrow in scope, different from what other witnesses would testify on, and protected by previously recorded interviews.
