COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Idaho Attorney General’s Office denied a request for records related to an investigation into Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris’ involvement in a chaotic February town hall citing the records are part of an “active investigation.”
In February, the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee hosted a town hall where a clash between hecklers and speakers led to the forcible removal of attendee, Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl, by staff from a private security company.

Video footage from the town hall shows Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris tugging on Borrenpohl’s arm and directing the security staff to remove her.
Coeur d’Alene Police Department investigated the incident and listed Sheriff Norris as a person who was involved, but not as a suspect.
Since the CDAPD investigation, four members of the security team have been charged with battery and false imprisonment.
After the event, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office sent out a press release saying it would request an independent investigation into the town hall by an outside agency.
As of Monday, 4 News Now has found no evidence that KCSO ever asked for an investigation.
Under Idaho state law, the Attorney General must respond and investigate if an elected county officer, such as a sheriff, is accused of violating state law.
After denying 4 News Now’s request for related records, the Attorney General’s Office would not comment further than saying the records are part of an “active investigation.”
Earlier this month, Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl filed a notice of tort claim against the security firm and the Kootenai County sheriff for $5 million.
