SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley Mayor Pam Haley will officially declare May 3 as Spokane Valley’s Asian Pacific American (AAPI) Heritage Day.
The day will be celebrated with an event celebrating Eastern practices and Asian cultures at the Spokane Valley Library.
Keynote speakers Megan Matulus and Rho Zaragoza will educate eventgoers on acupuncture, and Lisa Ma will discuss Qi Gong, which concerns coordinated body movement, breathing and energy.
Interactive demonstrations will be performed by Kendo Karate, Power Yoga, and Tai Chi.
There will also be cultural performances by the Spokane Chinese Dancers, the Indian Youth Club of Spokane, and the Filipino American Northwest Association.
Doors to the library open at 12:00 p.m. for food, and events run from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
