SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane trail and park ranked amongst the country’s top 10 best natural areas of 2025, according to USA Today.
The Spokane River Centennial State Park Trail came in at number 3 on USA Today’s 10 Best Recreational Trails in the U.S. for 2025.
The list includes Maryland and Pennsylvania’s Great Allegheny Passage at number 10, Ke Ala Hele Makalae in Hawaii at number 8 and Alabama’s Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail at number 1.
“Spokane River Centennial State Park Trail winds through eastern Washington and extends all the way to the Idaho border. You’ll pass through urban areas and high desert ponderosa pine forests,” read the article.
On the list of 10 best riverwalks in the country, Spokane’s Riverfront Park came in at number 8.
San Antonio’s River Walk came in at number 10 and Louisville, Kentucky’s Waterfront Park came in at number 1.
“What was formerly an old railway yard is now 100 acres of an urban escape along the pretty Spokane River,” the article reads. “Highlights include a winter ice skating area, a SkyRide aerial cable car above Spokane Falls, a hand-carved carousel, and an abundance of playgrounds, basketball courts and live open-air concerts.”
