SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing into a pickup truck near the Sunset Hill area on Sunday morning, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 9 a.m. on April 27, SCSO deputies responded to a reported crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck towing a small trailer on Cheney-Spokane Road, south of Sherman Road.
When deputies arrived, they found the pickup truck driver uninjured and the motorcycle rider receiving medical care, before being transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to SCSO, an initial investigation found the motorcycle and the pickup were both driving south on Cheney-Spokane Road.
At one point, the pickup stopped to turn left, while at the same time, the motorcycle began to pass the truck in a passing zone.
As the truck began to turn, the motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side of the pickup.
SCSO said the pickup driver showed no signs of being under the influence and cooperated with law enforcement.
The pickup driver received several citations for driving with a suspended license, driving without an interlock device and having no proof of insurance.
As of Sunday afternoon, the motorcyclist is still in the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
