COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A student at Coeur d’Alene High School caused a slight scare for neighbors Friday morning.
Coeur d’Alene Police said officers were called to the campus around 10 a.m. by someone who saw a student carrying what appeared to be a gun outside the building.
Officers happened to be at the school for something unrelated and were able to secure the scene while backup arrived.
Police said they learned a student was playing a game with a water gun and wasn’t threatening anyone.
As harmless as a water gun is, police want to remind parents and students bringing anything that resembles a real gun to a school can trigger a massive police response and could even lead to disastrous consequences.
People are also reminded that if you see something, say something: call police to report any safety concerns.
