OROFINO, Idaho — Homeschool groups and local high schools have an opportunity to find out what types of trade and technical jobs are available that pay well, and don’t require a 4-year degree.
The North Central Idaho Workforce Exploration Day is being held on April 7, 2025, at the National Guard Armory, and in the parking lots of the Idaho Department of Lands and Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protection Agency in Orofino.
Nearly 400 students are expected to attend.
The Exploration Day will also feature local businesses and organizations that rely on skilled labor, so that students can learn about different places they could eventually work for.
Students can expect to get hands-on experience with skills like logging, interactive simulators, and more.
A behind-the-scenes tour of the National Guard Armory will also be available.
Launched by Jesse Hunt Logging and M. Johnson Logging in 2024, The Idaho Forest Group, the University of Idaho College of Natural Resources, Idaho Department of Lands, Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protection Agency and the City of Orofino teamed up to make the trade exploration event possible.
