If you’re finally ready to start that long-awaited backyard project this summer, make sure you’re cleared to dig first!
April is National Safe Digging Month and the Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) is reminding all Washingtonians to call 811 at least two days before starting any digging project.
The free service will send professionals to your project site to mark any underground utility lines.
“Whether you plant a bush, install a sprinkler system or build a fence, calling 811 before you start is the law. It helps you avoid striking buried electrical lines, gas pipes and other utilities that can cause severe harm to you, your loved ones and your community,” said UTC.
