SPOKANE, Wash – It may not look like much from above ground, but a property for sale in Lincoln County has much more to offer below the surface: a piece of Cold War history.
Realtor Christy Lee posted an Atlas E missile silo for sale near Sprague, Washington, 34 miles west of Spokane. There’s also a website called Washingtonmissilebase.com dedicated to the property.
“Welcome to the world where past meets future,” the real estate listing reads.
The property includes 12,946 square feet of underground space along with a living area, a shop and garage. The property is on 25.5 acres and “is a blank canvas of endless possibilities waiting for you to make it your own.”
The listing shows a kitchen, bathroom with deep tub, several bedrooms, a large shop and two long cylinder hallways that really have that cold war feel.
There’s even a basketball hoop, if you’re interested.
Built in 1950, the site has been maintained over the years by Dave McIntyre.
“Over three decades, he transformed the site into the remarkable complex it is today,” the website says. “It truly is the bomb!”
The listing says the property has been on the market for 89 days. Asking price: $1.45 million.
A website dedicated to the Atlas missile silos says the sites were built mostly in the central states, but nine of them were built in Washington.
4 News Now previously reported on another missile site, a Titan I base, for sale near Odessa in Adams County.
