SPOKANE, Wash. — A garage fire was sparked by a candle in Spokane’s Garland District last week, according to Spokane Fire Department.
On March 20, SFD responded to a report of black smoke coming from a detached garage near Walton Avenue and Jefferson Street, two blocks from the Garland Theater.
When crews arrived, they found the garage on fire with flames threatening a nearby building.
Firefighters put out the fire before it spread, but the garage sustained significant damage.
Investigators said the fire started when someone living in the garage accidentally knocked over a candle that ignited nearby combustibles.
No injuries were reported.
