PULLMAN, Wash – Washington State University canceled its morning bowl game practice Wednesday, as news broke that head coach Jake Dickert is heading to Wake Forest.

WSU practiced Monday this week and was scheduled to have Tuesday and Wednesday off.
The team was scheduled to hit the field at 9:15 Wednesday morning, but announced in an email to media at 8:49 that the practice was canceled. The team said the usual media availability following practice was also canceled.
The sports information director said he would update the practice schedule for the rest of the week later in the day.
Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday morning that Dickert was taking the job at Wake Forest. Wake Forest made it official with a news release at 9 am pacific time.
WSU is scheduled to play Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl on December 27th.
The Cougs have named assistant head coach Pete Kaligis as acting head coach for the bowl game.
It will play without many of this season’s starters, including quarterback John Mateer. Those players have entered the transfer portal.
