MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Two animals died in a house fire on West Texas Street in Moses Lake on Tuesday.
According to the Moses Lake Fire Department, calls came in around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday about a house that was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they saw fire venting and heavy black smoke from the back door of the property.
The fire department says the home was unoccupied at the time, but four animals were inside. Two of the animals were taken to safety thanks to the help of people nearby.
Two other animals were found inside the home and died from smoke inhalation after firefighters tried lifesaving efforts on them.
The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
