OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington Secretary of State’s Office has certified the state’s election results, the department announced Wednesday.
According to Secretary of State’s Office, 3.96 million voters, or about 78.94% of registered voters, returned ballots for the general election.
The office says 99% of voters used Washington’s vote-by-mail system with 66.47% using official county drop boxes and 32.78% of voters returning the ballot by mail.
According to the department, Washington reached a milestone of 5 million registered voters including on October 28 when 10,059 people registered online for the highest single-day tally.
Following this certification, Washington’s electors will now meet December 17 to cast their electoral votes in the presidential election.
