SPOKANE, Wash. — Multiple people are displaced after a fire broke out at the Ridpath Apartments Tuesday afternoon.
Spokane Fire Department said calls about a fire in one of the fifth-floor units came in just after 3 p.m. Once crews saw it was a working fire, more resources were called to help.
Spokane Police directed traffic away from the area at the intersection of Sprague and Stevens.
Everyone living in the building has been evacuated and is staying warm on city buses.
SFD said there was significant water damage that spread to multiple floors of the apartment building.
Nine people were displaced by the fire and will get help through the American Red Cross.
The fire took 17 minutes to put out. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
