CHENEY SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPOSITION 1
School officials in Cheney are watching election returns closely Tuesday night, hoping voters will pass a $72 million bond.
School bonds in Washington need a 60% majority to pass.
As of 10:45 p.m. on election night, the 59.2% of voters in the Cheney School District have chosen for the bond to pass.
It’s the second time this year voters have been asked to weigh in on a measure that the district said would improve facilities and address overcrowding.
In February, the Cheney bond was one of five school district levies to fail in Spokane County.
In that election, 54.5% of voters said yes, but it failed to meet the supermajority threshold.
