SPOKANE COUNTY DISTRICT 5 – COMMISSIONER
There is only one contested Spokane County Commissioner race on the ballot and as of 10:43 p.m. on election night, Al French is holding on to the lead against opponent Molly Marshall.
French has 51.01% of the votes compared to Marshall’s 48.87%.
The Republican French is the incumbent in the race. He’s been a county commissioner for 14 years.
Right now, there are three Republicans on the board of county commissioners and two Democrats.
If Marshall were to win the race, it would shift the political slant of the board to the Democrats.
French narrowly defeated Marshall in the primary by just under 3%.
