SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A teenage boy died in a crash on East Parksmith Drive and East Hawthorne Road in Spokane County on Halloween night.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a blue Honda Civic was driving east on Hawthorne Road around 9:40 p.m. when it crashed into a Mitsubishi Eclipse speeding west on Parksmith Drive.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Mitsubishi passed a westbound car by getting into the eastbound lane and crashed with the Honda head-on.
Four adults, two in the Mitsubishi and two in the Honda, were taken to the hospital with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries. The teenage boy, who had been riding in the Honda at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says investigators believe the man driving the Mitsubishi was impaired at the time of the crash. Criminal charges have not yet been filed. The driver is still in the hospital being treated for his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation.
