SPOKANE, Wash. — The faces of the Gonzaga men’s basketball team are getting behind a new fund, launched by their head coach Mark Few, called phase 2 of the Karen Worthy Memorial Wildfire Grant: Back on Solid Ground.
It aims to help fire victims choosing to stay and rebuild after the Spokane Area fires.
“Building on the generosity of Walt and Karen Worthy, we are proud to partner on the next phase of the Karen Worthy Memorial Wildfire Grant,” said Gonzaga basketball player Braden Huff.
Gonzaga athletics says coach Few has been the main force behind the grant, asking people to donate for more relief and is working with multiple organizations to make this happen. Those include the Innovia Foundation, Karen Worthy’s Wildfire Relief Grant and the Spokane Region Long Term Recovery Group.
“Funds raised will help qualifying families offset permitting and other rebuilding expenses with assistance applied directly towards these costs,” said Davis Fogle, another Gonzaga basketball player.
Gonzaga Athletics says fire victims can apply to the grant through an email on Innovia’s website that will go to the long-term recovery group.
You can also make donations using that same link on Innovia’s website.
