CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington (2-5, 1-3) did not play a pretty game, but won through clutch late kicking and defensive heroics to beat Northern Colorado (2-5, 1-3), 31-22.
EWU led 28-6 at halftime through a fantastic Nate Bell performance, tossing four passing touchdowns to four different receivers. The defense played well enough to stop most scoring, but the bending turned to breaking after UNC third-string quarterback Keegan Patterson led multiple second-half scoring drives.
UNC brought the game back to one score in the fourth quarter, but consecutive fourth-quarter Jojo Maxey-Johnson interceptions and a Soren McKee 46-yard field goal in between sealed the win.
Eastern next hosts the No. 6 Montana State Bobcats on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
