SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley Sheriff’s deputies arrested Brandon L. Chunn, 40, following an assault with a handgun on Oct. 1st in the 900 block of S. Pines Road.
Chunn was booked into Spokane County Jail on felony charges of second-degree assault, harassment and threats with a weapon, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of dangerous weapon possession.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. when a man went to his ex-girlfriend’s home to drop off their child. After a brief argument, the man returned to his vehicle where Chunn confronted him. When the man noticed Chunn holding a black handgun, he tried to leave. Chunn struck the man’s car with the gun’s butt, then hit him in the face with the weapon and pointed it at him while threatening to shoot.
Fearing for his life, the man took cover in his vehicle. After Chunn left, he drove away and contacted law enforcement. Deputies learned Chunn was prohibited from possessing firearms due to an active Domestic Violence Order of Protection.
When deputies responded to the address, they obtained search warrants for Chunn’s apartment and vehicles. During the search, they found two guns hidden under the driver’s seat of Chunn’s truck, along with a holster and second magazine.
On Oct. 2, Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner J. Pelc set Chunn’s bond at $25,000. He posted bond and was released that day.
