DAVIS. Calif. -Eastern Washington’s struggles continued Saturday night as the Eagles fell to UC Davis 49-38 in a Big Sky Conference matchup in Davis.
The loss drops Eastern Washington to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Eagles have now lost five straight games and are searching for answers as the season enters its second half.
Nate Bell had a strong individual performance for Eastern Washington, completing 39 of 58 passes for 413 yards with three touchdowns. He also rushed for 107 yards and a score, accounting for most of the Eagles’ offensive output. But it wasn’t enough to overcome UC Davis’s explosive attack.
The Aggies dominated the second half, particularly the third quarter where they scored on all four possessions to build a 46-24 lead. UC Davis’s running back Jordan Fisher was nearly unstoppable, rushing for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Eastern Washington’s defense struggled to contain the Aggies’ offense, allowing 49 points in a game the Eagles needed to win to stay competitive in the Big Sky.
The Eagles will look to bounce back next Saturday when they host Northern Colorado at home. Eastern Washington needs to find consistency on both sides of the ball if they hope to salvage their season.
