CLEARWATER COUNTY, Idaho — The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office will discontinue its Flock Safety camera system, effective September 22, 2026.
Sheriff John Smith issued a formal notice of non-renewal on July 23, stating the agency evaluated the program and determined it does not meet operational needs to justify continued costs.
“After evaluating the program during its implementation, we have determined that it does not meet the operational needs and priorities of our agency to justify its continued cost,” the sheriff’s office stated.
The Flock Safety system uses automated license plate reader technology to help law enforcement track stolen vehicles, locate missing persons, and investigate crimes.
