GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — Authorities discovered the vehicle of missing Coulee City resident John Morrison on private property in rural Douglas County on Tuesday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Morrison, 70, left his home on July 5 and has not been seen since. His 2004 Toyota Corolla was found blocking a gravel road northeast of Orondo, roughly 50 miles away. A property owner discovered the vehicle and contacted the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Evidence suggests Morrison left the vehicle on foot after it became unable to navigate steep terrain, investigators said. Game camera footage shows his vehicle arriving at 7 a.m. on July 5. Investigators found no evidence of foul play.
Search teams from Grant County and Douglas County used drones and ground crews Tuesday but did not locate Morrison. The search continues Wednesday, according to Douglas County investigators.
Morrison is described as 5-foot-6, weighs about 200 pounds, and has blue eyes and gray, balding hair.
He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a red, gray and orange flannel shirt. He also has a tattoo of two broken chains on his right arm.
