SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Velocity are moving on.
Spokane punched its ticket to the 2026 USL Cup Quarterfinals Saturday with a 3-1 road victory over Oakland Roots SC, capping off an impressive group-stage run.
The Roots struck first with a goal from Neveal Hackshaw in the second minute, but the Velocity responded in emphatic fashion. Neco Brett scored twice, finding the equalizer in the 34th minute before putting Spokane in front with his second goal of the match in the 55th. Spokane added a late insurance goal to seal the victory and secure its place in the knockout round.
The win sends Spokane into the USL Cup quarterfinals, where the club will continue its pursuit of its first tournament championship.
The victory also carries momentum back into USL League One play. Spokane sits eighth in the league standings with 23 points, posting a 7-2-6 record through 15 matches as the club battles for playoff positioning during the second half of the season.
