SPOKANE, Wash. — Firefighters across Spokane demonstrated the value of their training and coordination this morning when they quickly extinguished a fire before it could spread into a nearby neighborhood.

“Especially as wildland season gets hotter and gets more busy, having the closest resources show up regardless of district boundaries is so important,” said City of Spokane Battalion Chief David Kovac.

As Spokane heads into a fire weather warning watch this weekend, fire officials are reminding residents that a burn ban remains in place. They are urging the public to exercise caution with fire and to report any signs of fire immediately so crews can contain incidents before they escalate.
“Fire safety is critical right now. It always is important but right now, it’s especially critical,” Kovac said.
