SPOKANE, Wash – Whitworth’s football team is mourning the loss of a player who died over the weekend in western Washington.
Whitworth shared the news Monday of the death of rising junior Tanner Hart.
Hart died while skateboarding in Pierce County.
“Tanner was loved by his teammates, coaches, professors and friends and his loss is deeply felt throughout our athletics and campus community,” Whitworth wrote in a social media post. “We ask the Whitworth community to keep Tanner’s family, teammates, and coaches in their prayers and to respect their privacy as they grieve.”
Whitworth’s football coaches are providing resources of support for anyone who needs it.
Hart played high school football in Sumner and was studying business and management at Whitworth.
