PULLMAN, Wash. – For the first time in Washington State baseball history, a pitcher wins a Rawlings Gold Glove Award.
Nick Lewis, the star Cougs pitcher this season, wins the first-ever WSU pitcher Gold Glove and the first overall since third baseman Paul Gran did it in 2008.
Lewis completed a perfect fielding season with six pickoffs, plus 22 assists and three putouts.
The lefty shone the brightest this postseason, posting a career-high 11 strikeouts against Air Force in the Mountain West Tournament and then completing a complete game six-hitter against No. 7 Oregon State.
